Arbutus Duff & Varied Thrush Feather - Fine Art Print (Low Stock)
There is a world of beauty even at your feet!
Below an Arbutus menziesii tree in late summer you will find red paper curls of bark and plenty of colourful fallen leaves like these ones, in different stages of decomposition, in amongst litter from other trees like Douglas fir, and various lichen-covered twigs. The litter also provides shelter and shade, cooling the soil for insects and slugs. In this scene, a varied thrush (one of my favourite summer birds) has lost a primary wing feather which sits atop it all. This bird’s varied call is what gives its name, and its presence in the forest is an ephemeral reminder of change.
This is a mixed media piece, under-painted in watercolour and drawn with coloured pencils over top. The archival print will fit nicely in an 8”x10” frame of your choice. It ships unframed in a plastic sleeve with an acid-free card backing board. Shipping and handling is included.
