Bittersweet Peas - Giclée Archival Print on Paper
Perennial Sweet Pea, Lathyrus latifolius
2023 Original Art by Jen Burgess
I loved painting these. What a bright magenta POP of colour against a muted beauty background! And how the blooms fade from that intense pink to to blue! Ironically, I learned well after finishing my painting that they are not our native species, but a naturalized one here from Europe. Hence, Bittersweet! Oh well, I still had fun painting it and I’m proud of it! I hope it will brighten up your space!

What is an Artist Proof?
It’s helpful for an artist to do a test run with their chosen printing service, and get one or two prints on different surfaces, simply to decide if they want to follow through with a larger order. These proofs are GORGEOUS. The print quality is exceptional and lovely and I approve of it wholeheartedly. However, they were printed at a very slightly different size than I asked for, and further to that, for prints on canvas with canvas texture, I decided that printing onto canvas better suited this project. Ultimately, I am very happy with these however, I have elected to discontinue this size and surface, and so ONLY 2 will EVER be made. Rather than keeping them, I am making them available to you—consider them collector’s editions! One each on hot pressed and on cold pressed paper. When they’re gone, they’re gone!
