Custom Painting Commission Deposit

If you haven't sent me an email yet, please do that first! I'll direct you here or send you an invoice when I've okayed your project.
It's important that you send me an email with your initial ideas and thoughts on the project, size, timeline, and include any reference photos attached... and now you're here because you're ready to move forward and pay your deposit.
To book a commission with me, I require a $150 nonrefundable deposit which has the following benefits:
It holds your place in the queue
It includes our (up to) 1h online consultation
It pays for my initial sketches, studies, and surface preparations
It allows me to pick up any needed supplies
Once you pay your deposit, next steps are to book our consultation on Zoom via my Calendly schedule.
During our consultation we will go over all sorts of specifics such as budget, size, media, surface, style, colour palette, timeline and we will chat about the project in general. This is also a wonderful time to tell me about the personality of your beloved pet, the great time you had on vacation, whatever pertains to this painting commission! I will send you sketches when they are ready and we can agree to proceed.
If we decide not to go ahead, your deposit converts to a gift certificate for my shop, which could include any product or service offered.
Pricing Schedule: My fees for paintings themselves (after the deposit) start at $4 per square inch, regardless of what media you choose, because they take the same amount of time and effort for me. I can work in Acrylics or Watercolour/Gouache, though we can discuss mixed media or other ideas you have. While the smallest I usually work is 5x7", I can go physically smaller, but I will charge the same rates as if it were 5x7".) The largest I can physically work is 24"x36" in Acrylic on Canvas/Panel, and 20" x 28" in Watercolour on Paper. Please note watercolour will require framing behind glass which is not included. I will require a 50% payment when I start painting, and the other 50% when the painting is done and I'm ready to ship. Or we can arrange an alternate payment schedule for in between. For these I will send email invoices via Square.
